Independence Day
All across America flags are flying, speckling and dotting front door posts of houses, town squares and government buildings. July the 4th, Independence day, a day of celebration and commemoration of the birth of our country's religious freedom.
We love to celebrate. We love our freedom. But do we remember how it came about? How we achieved it? The sacrifice our first settlers made and why?
God...The desire to worship and serve God Almighty was the driving force behind the Declaration of Independence.
I often think of the saying that freedom isn't free...and that's the truth. Our country started with nothing but a faith in God, they didn't know where they were going, when they'd get there, or even if they'd get there. But in faith they went.
Jesus Christ, too paid a dear price for our freedom. For us to take that for granted with Jesus, with our forefathers, our service men...etc...is in itself a tragedy. Let's take this day to remember all that it cost for our freedom...and stand up for those who paid it...Especially Jesus, who began it all.
