Taking Position
In response to an anonymous comment I just wanted to share this...I think the way you are feeling is shared by alot of Christians. You want to live for Christ, and yet when that feeling of uncomfortability creeps in, being an outcast and unaccepted by our peers sometimes put the light out in us. But don't lose heart...Jesus understands, Even Peter, the apostle, who was Jesus' right hand man, who firmly believed in Jesus, who swore that he would never deny Jesus, did just that 3 TIMES! I think when the fear of man out weighs the fear of God, is when we run into trouble. Luke 9:26 Jesus tells us- "If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels." and in Matthew 10:32 Jesus says- "Every one therefore who shall confess me before men, him will I also confess before my Father who is in heaven." Taking position for Christ is hard but the rewards far outweigh the negative. God promises us eternal life with Him, God sent Jesus so that we might live life more abundantly! John 10:10 says this- "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." So when we stand for Christ I fully believe God's word, that God himself will give the provision and strength for us to stand and will bless us here on earth and even more so in heaven when we do. Romans 8:31- "What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?"
Also, it can be frustrating when we are bursting with joy for the Lord and we are shut down by those who don't yet believe. Sometimes we may have to remain silent, and instead show Christ's love in action rather than words. Our actions and reactions to situations done out of our love for the Lord can sometimes be even more powerful than words themselves. Then in His timing, God will open the door for us to speak His truth. The key to all of this is to be sure who we are living for!
Lord, I pray right now for all who follow You..that when the times come that we need to take postition for You, that we may stand firm in Your word, that in our everyday interactions with people, Your light will shine through us, that we may be an example of Your love here on earth. Thank you for being a compassionate, understanding and forgiving God. May we Live our lives for You and may we live them to their fullest! I ask this in Your name Jesus,...Amen
