Seek

Each week I walk the Lehigh Parkway, a beautiful place near where I live, teaming with nature and wild life. This Great Blue Heron lives there, I always look for him, and I usually always find him. He is quiet, and blends into the landscape, so his presence isn’t always obvious. This day, he was standing perfectly still by a tree. If I wasn’t always looking for him, I could have very easily missed him. God reminded me just then, that this is very much how He operates. God is always present, no matter where we are, but sometimes we fail to look. We get caught up in our busyness, or the troubles of the day. But God stands waiting for our eyes, and heart, and mind, to turn to Him. Seek Him always!

“The Lord looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.” - Psalms‬ ‭14:2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“But if you will seek God earnestly and plead with the Almighty, if you are pure and upright, even now he will rouse himself on your behalf and restore you to your prosperous state.” - Job‬ ‭8:5-6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Lord God, sometimes You’re quiet
With the why’s, the where’s, the how’s.
We may become bewildered,
Trying to figure it all out.
But then You send reminders,
That this is not our task.
It’s our job to rely on You,
And when in doubt, to ask.
You are always waiting,
For us, to turn to You,
Instead of turning circles,
Becoming more confused.
Lord, help us fix our gaze
Upon You all our days,
Following Your footsteps,
Learning all Your ways.
Then when trouble, doubt, or pain
Infiltrate our lives,
Our first response will be automatic,
To look to You, to guide.
You promise us, that if we seek You,
We will surely find,
And sit under Your wisdom,
Oh God Almighty, most Devine.
