Whose Team Are You On?

Life is full of so much hurt and pain. We are born into it. For some it started from the moment they emerged from the womb and for others it's been a more subtle exchange. Those things that entangle us are just lurking, waiting to pounce and destroy our very being. God's word tells us point blank that Satan prowls around like a roaring lion waiting to devour us.(1 Peter 5:8)

So what can we do? Do we have to be sitting ducks? NO! That's what Satan wants us to think. He wants us to feel defeated, he wants us to give up, throw in the towel. Everyday that we give in to the things that hold us back is a victory for him. Think for a moment about this...whose team do you want to be on? who are you routing for? Where are your loyalties? It's up to us to choose.

Sometimes the trials we go through seem too big, to hard, too impossible to face. Think of some of the things that are part of your life that may be dragging you down. Things like the past, abuse, unfrogiveness, rejection, loneliness, worthlessness, foolishness, pride, lies, bitter anger, fear, worry, doubt, marital difficulties, wayward children, family turmoil, the crazy mad hurriedness of life...the list can go on and on. Think about all these things as members of Satan's team.

Now I want you to look at the other team, God's team, it's members are made up of love, peace, goodness, faithfulness, joy, strength, wisdom, perseverance, hope, comfort, patience, encouragement, promise, unity, care, purpose, thankfulness, and praise.

We so often think we can't switch teams, but that's just another lie Satan wants us to believe. We were born with free will. We DO have a choice. It won't be easy to switch. We may have become comfortable with the members of Satan's team, they may have become so deeply ingrained in us, because we've spent so much time with them. But God is calling us out. He wants to recruit each one of us to join His team. It may look as if Satan's team is winning, but what Satan doesn't know is that God's team has already won. He has overcome the world(John 16:33)

The choice is yours, whose team do you want to be on? This passage from Romans may help you decide...

More Than Conquerors - Romans 8:28-39

28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
31What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." 37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God Bless You,

Mary
